Maple Loaf Bread

Enjoy a slice or two of healthy and delicious maple bread



  • 2 cups old-fashioned oats
  • 1/4 cup Pure Maple Syrup from Hilltop Boilers
  • 1/4 cup pure Maine honey
  • 2 tsp. salt 1 package dry yeast dissolved in 1/2 cup water
  • 2 cups milk 1 Tbsp butter
  • 2 cups whole wheat flour
  • 1/2 cup rye flour
  • 2 1/2 cups unbleached flour


Combine oats, maple syrup, honey and salt. Scald milk and add butter. Add to oats mixture. Cool to lukewarm and add dissolved yeast. Mix in whole wheat and rye flours. Then add white flour to make soft dough. Knead until smooth. Place in greased bowl and turn to grease all sides of dough. Cover and let rise until doubled. Knead again and shape into loaves- two large ones or 3-4 smaller ones. Bake at 350 degrees until lightly browned and taps hollow on the bottom. Remove and cool on rack.
